Promotion: ADDEA 2012 candidate: White Oak Kitchen & Cocktails

On July 9th, 2012 White Oak Kitchen & Cocktails opened in the heart of Atlanta. Three years in the making, this southern-inspired restaurant is rooted in the desire of owner Cindy and Alan LeBlanc to build a restaurant that respects the quiet complexities of the South. Located on the ground floor of 270 Peachtree St., directly across from the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, White Oak Kitchen & Cocktails comes 14 years after the LeBlancs established Max Lager’s Wood-Fired Grill & Brewery as one of the first brewery restaurants in the state of Georgia. The 300 seat restaurant comprises three dining rooms; The Lookout Room (70 seats), Chapter and Verse (60 seats), and The Distillery Room (60 seats), as well as the bar with 110 seats. Each room offers a unique experience that satisfies the varied markets desiring dining in a major gateway city; corporate, convention, social, and local a la carte. The interior design plays on the subtle balance of sophistication and approachability with materials both modern and rustic. Reclaimed pine from Georgia textile mills merges into freshly planed white oak, while Italian tile and Georgia marble wrap the space to highlight three large-scale lighting fixtures custom fabricated out of sugar maple sourced from the Jack Daniel’s distillery. Local artisans assisted in the design process, bringing their sensitivities to the combination of steel, wood, glass and finishes, while Square Foot Studio provided architectural services for the project. With southern roots and a bar focusing on wine, whiskey and bourbon, the White Oak name was an organic extension of the direction of the restaurant, while the southern sourced menu reflects the natural elements of the space. The merging of contemporary with traditional, simple with complex, and rural with metropolitan are the foundation of the sustainability of the essence of the New South and Atlanta’s newest destination restaurant – White Oak Kitchen & Cocktails.
