Now that we’re finally starting to thaw out from yesterday’s nasty, slushy mess, you officially have less than 24 hours until Valentine’s Day. Heed the advice of the governor and emergency experts and stay hunkered down today, but you can expect things to thaw out by Friday and for the rest of the weekend. And while that sheriff in Oconee County might have declared the holiday cancelled until next week, his jurisdiction doesn’t extend to metro Atlanta. So don’t use the ice as a convenient excuse for why you don’t have any plans—here’s a few last minute ideas:

Valentine’s Day at Medieval Times
Because nothing says romance like watching people try to knock each other off horses, Lawrenceville’s castle is offering a couple’s package for $99 that includes souvenir photos, Champagne glasses, cheering items, and tickets to the dungeon. But if you’d rather take your friends or your kids, a non-perishable food item will get you in the door for $32.95. Couples package: Friday-Sunday; Food item discount: Through March 2. medievaltimes.com

Piano Romance
The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will serenade lovers with music from pianist Rich Ridenour and Broadway singer Ashley Brown. Friday and Saturday 8 p.m. atlantasymphony.org

Jim Jefferies
If you just need a laugh on V-Day, the Australian comedian and Legit star will bring his stand-up routine to the Variety Playhouse. Friday 8 and 10:30 p.m. variety-playhouse.com

Romeo and Juliet on Broadway
We hope your Valentine’s Day is significantly less tragic than this Shakespearian classic. A Broadway taping featuring heartthrob Orlando Bloom in the title role will be screened at several theaters in the area this weekend, including the Midtown Art Cinema, Cinemark Tinseltown 17 in Fayettevile, and Regal Hollywood Stadium 24 in Chamblee. Friday through Sunday. Check out locations here

Tenth Annual Atlanta Blues Festival
Dateless this Valentine’s Day? Share your blues with a roster of performers that includes Millie Jackson and Clarence Carter. At the Civic Center. Friday 8 p.m. atlantaciviccenter.com

Atlanta Rollergirls
If you’re looking for perhaps the ultimate in alternative Valentine’s plans, Atlanta’s roller derby divas open their 2014 season this weekend with a doubleheader. Saturday 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. atlantarollergirls.com
