    Myrydd Wells (pronounced "merith") joined the Atlanta magazine staff in late 2013, moving 600 miles north from the sunny coast of Southwest Florida, where she worked as a copy editor and page designer for the Naples Daily News. Prior to that, she worked in her hometown as an intern and later contributing editor for Indianapolis Monthly, where she wrote about Pokemon, Lil’ Bub, fringe theater, and any other quirky topic she could find. A proud alumna of Indiana Unviersity Bloomington, she enjoys writing about pop culture, television, and local events and is always looking for interesting ways to describe the world in 140 characters or less.

Zoo Atlanta's panda twins celebrate their first birthday

Happy birthday, Mei Lun and Mei Huan! One year ago today, pandemonium began when Zoo Atlanta's giant panda Lun Lun gave birth to a set of tiny pink cubs, the first giant panda twins born in the U.S. since 1987. Through the zoo's blog, eager Atlantans (and the rest of the world) watched the twins transform from four-ounce newborns to the 60-pound adorable balls of fluff they are today, along the way hitting classic milestones such as opening their eyes for the first time and getting their baby teeth. Today, the zoo celebrates the girls’ birthday with a set of ice cakes, but let’s first go back in time and look at how far these cuties have come. Read more...
