Are your holidays plagued with an alarming absence of drama and gun-toting grannies? No worries, Atlanta director-producer Tyler Perry has your back this year.

Perry will stage three performances of “A Madea Christmas” live at the Cobb Energy Centre May 13 and 14. Tickets are a mere $25 per person for all seats. Perry tells fans the performances will be taped for DVD release set to hit stores this yuletide season. Quips Perry in an email sent to fans Thursday: “Joy to the world but Madea is wrecking the city! Lol!” Atlanta, you’ve been warned.

According to the synopsis posted on the Cobb Energy Centre website, the plot centers on “a wealthy family meeting for Christmas at their posh Cape Cod estate where family arguments and secrets cause quite a stir [editor’s note: Whaaaaaaaaaa?!, gives side eye]. It takes Mr. Brown (played by ‘Meet the Browns’ actor David Mann), Cora (played by Tamela J. Mann) and the almighty Madea to save this Christmas and make it into a foot-stomping good time. Filled with great music and enough laughs to fill any season with joy, ‘A Madea Christmas’ is a must-see.”

As of Thursday at 7 a.m., a $25 ticket to the  May 13 Friday night performance at 8 o’clock (DON’T be late, incidentally…) with processing fees went for $38.30 via Ticketmaster. We’ll be covering the show from Row E in the Grand Tier section. Come say hello. Or “Hellerrr” as Madea would no doubt pronounce it.
