Georgia isn’t necessarily a great place to grow old.
When it comes to senior health, we’re 43 in a new ranking from the United Health Foundation. The report takes into account nearly three dozen factors including physical inactivity, obesity, insurance coverage for medications, self-reported health status, and hospital readmission rates.
Georgia scored well on chronic drinking (low) and hospice care (high.) We weren’t so hot on smoking rates and mental health.
Minnesota is at the top of the America’s Health Rankings Senior Report. It’s followed by Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Iowa.
Mississippi is at the bottom as the least healthy state. Rounding out the bottom five are Oklahoma, Louisiana, West Virginia, and Arkansas.
