Boulevard cleanup day

Massive effort scheduled for May 19

The Year of Boulevard initiative will be attempting to clean up the corridor more literally than figuratively on Saturday May 19, with a massive spring-cleaning effort organized by councilmember Kwanza Hall’s office.

The event will kick off at Fort Street United Methodist (562 Boulevard NE) with coffee, Sublime Doughnuts, and presentation of oversized checks for the YOB summer camp programs.

Then the hard work will start. Participants are asked to bring mowers, weed trimmers, and donations. For more details, email Hall’s office.

For the “slacktivists” who want to pitch in without getting their hands dirty, an easy new mechanism is in place. For each new “like” on the TEDx Atlanta YOB “Summer of Possibility” Facebook page, $1 will be donated to the YOB summer camp scholarship campaign (up to $500).
