Editor’s Note: Don’t get us wrong, we are as obsessive as any TWD fans. But let others pontificate at length. In our view, the show’s narrative conflict is so essential—living vs. undead, civility vs. anarchy, prey vs. predator—that it demands to be distilled in the purest form possible. What better serves that purpose than haiku?

Season 4, Episode 4: “Indifference”

Oh! Out out damned spot!
Tyreese is laundry obsessed.
He can’t remove stain.

“Stupid gets you killed,”
Michonne cautions Tyreese. But
he’s got a death wish.

Zombies and kudzu:
Which is the most pernicious?
Neither ever dies.

Hammer. Crossbow. Sword.
Tyreese, Daryl, and Michonne
are badass fighters.

But what about Bob?
Wants booze more than medicine.
Almost gets eaten.

While seeking others
Rick and Carol are real tense.
He can’t forgive her.

Yikes! Hippies attack.
Throw fruit at Rick and Carol.
“We’ve got apricots!”

Rick wants to help them.
Carol is more hard-hearted.
No hippies allowed.

Rick cuts Carol loose.
Has problems with her actions.
She drives off. Goodbye?
