A national education report found that the recent graduation rate for African-American male students in the U.S. was only 47 percent. Half the states -- including Georgia -- have rates even lower than that.
The report, “Yes We Can: The 2010 Schott 50 State Report on Black Males in Public Education,” found a significant racial gap between the graduation rates of white and black male students. However, the racial gap is narrower in Georgia (19%) than the national average (31%).
