The General Muir

The Best of Show among the eateries in the new Emory Point complex gets its name from a ship that arrived in New York post–World War II. It carried the mother and grandparents of Jennifer Johnson, who owns the restaurant (and Westside’s West Egg Cafe) with her husband, Ben. Todd Ginsberg left his executive chef position at Bocado to lead the kitchen, a coup for the Johnsons. The General Muir opened for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in late January, and it’s already (deservedly) crowded in the morning.

Order this: French toast, crusted with hazelnuts and topped with roasted bananas; the Maven platter, which includes lox and other smoked and cured fish and a housemade bagel.
