The Silver Skillet

1319

Hello, 1950s time warp. The sunny yellow walls, the fluorescent lights, the snug booths, the waitresses who call you “honey”: This is the place to take visitors longing to find some vestige of small-town Southern charm in Atlanta. The country ham with redeye gravy is profoundly salty, and the pies (which they will serve for breakfast) can be exceedingly sweet. We wouldn’t have it any other way, though.

ORDER THIS: Country-fried steak with white gravy; egg and cheese biscuit (the cheese is American, of course).
