Actress and choreographer Debbie Allen lunching on grilled salmon with a side of collard greens and sampling the biscuits and cornbread at South City Kitchen in Midtown Monday.
Allen is in town directing and choreographing the much anticipated upcoming Alliance Theatre production of "Twist: An American Musical," a new theatrical version based on the Charles Dickens classic, "Oliver Twist."
The show, now inventively set on New Orleans' Bourbon Street in the Roaring Twenties, is currently in rehearsal.
The show written by "The Wiz" author William F. Brown and Grammy winner Tena Clark, will run at the Alliance September 1 to October 3.
Alas, our spies report that the former "Fame" taskmaster at no time wielded a blackboard pointer while proclaiming: "You want fame? Well, fame costs. And right here is where you start paying. In sweat."

Always liked her. The play sounds cool! Now, I wonder what her thoughts on "Step Up 3D" are?
