Organizers behind the 18th annual Jeffrey Fashion Cares are quietly celebrating today.
In a major boost to its fund-raising efforts, the upcoming Atlanta AIDS Partnership Fund and Susan G. Komen for the Cure Greater Atlanta Affiliate benefit has just received a $75,000 matching grant from the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
Atlanta-based EJAF board member Barron Segar made the announcement to event co-chairs Lila Hertz, Jeffrey McQuithy and Louise Sams.
The charitable fashion show takes place August 30 at the 12th & Midtown at Peachtree high rise in Midtown.
The evening will be presided over by Fashion Cares founder and Atlanta and New York retailer Jeffrey Kalinsky.
"We are so grateful for the support of Barron Segar and the Elton John AIDS Foundation," explained Hertz. "For the past five years, their generosity has helped us achieve goals we never thought possible."
And Fashion Cares 2010 will be able to take full advantage of the matching grant since its energetic host committee has already raised more than $150,000 for the event. And that's not including generous corporate sponsorships or vendor donations, Intel is told.
This year, Fashion Cares guest designers will be Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler. The evening's honorary chair will be Spanx founder Sara Blakely.
Tickets are still available at the Fashion Cares Atlanta official website. In addition, for the first time this year, prospective patrons can also purchase tickets separately to the After Party featuring celebrity DJ and B-52's co-founder Fred Schneider at Opera in Midtown.
