Caught Up: 40 years later, Millie Jackson recalls creating a classic

The album cover consisted of a sticky spider web entangling two dazed women and their confused man. The salacious image told listeners everything they needed to know about Caught Up, R&B singer Millie Jackson’s epic 1974 “soul opera.” The only thing more shocking than dropping the needle on Side One to hear a collection of songs from the perspective of the "other woman": Flipping the 12-inch piece of vinyl to discover Side Two and songs from "the wife."

Will Jay Z and Beyonce cause worse gridlock than Snowpocalypse?

Jay Z and Beyoncé's On the Run tour stops in Atlanta tonight. The power couple’s gig at the Dome is sold out, and officials are projecting hordes of fans to make their way Downtown, where folks are still a bit jittery what with this weekend's car show stampede. The already problematic traffic conditions at the Dome will be worse because of construction underway for the new Falcons stadium.

3 local albums you should listen to this summer

Video of the Day: Andre 3000 as Jimi Hendrix

Plot details are hazy, to put it mildly, in the trailer for Jimi: All Is by My Side, the Hendrix biopic starring Andre Benjamin of Outkast, aka Andre 3000. But here's what you can glean: Set in groovilicious 1966 London, the movie focuses on the early days of Hendrix's career, which evidently included a romantic entanglement with a young British woman, played by Imogen Poots. (That is the most British name ever; it sounds like a tertiary Harry Potter character, one of the Hufflepuff quidditch players, maybe.)

Raury, the 18 year old who will be opening for Outkast, performed at Urban Outfitters

On any given day it can be difficult to find a parking spot near the Urban Outfitters at the corner of North Highland and Ponce de Leon avenues, but a concert inside the store by one of Atlanta’s most talked about up-and-coming artists just about triples the amount of time you will spend circling the lot and asking yourself if Publix would really tow your car if you parked there for a few hours.

After a hellish marriage to Otis Nixon, Candi Staton returns with Life Happens

Describing her tumultuous two-year marriage to former Atlanta Braves outfielder Otis Nixon, Candi Staton doesn’t sugarcoat a thing: “It was hell on earth. My God, it was the most terrifying and devastating time in my whole life. I was going through the fires of hell trying to figure out how to live with him and then how to find a way out of that crazy marriage.”

With a nod to Psycho, Sugarland’s Bush brothers take a stab at scoring

For their latest project, Grammy-winning Sugarland brothers Brandon and Kristian Bush have ventured far afield of their usual country-pop hybrid. The Bush bros reached back to classic cinematic composers, including Max Steiner, Bernard Herrmann, Elmer Bernstein and John Berry for inspiration after the two Turner Classic Movie nuts got the assignment to pen a score for a brand-new 30-second TCM ID, marking the Atlanta-based cable channel’s 20th anniversary.

Infographic of the Day: Does Outkast have a bigger vocab than Shakespeare?
