Inexplicably, on Sunday night, the Atlanta CBS affiliate decided to dump its live feed of the 67th annual Tony Awards just before the final category of the evening, Best Musical was announced and, instead, opted to air its 11 o’clock news. Compounding the insult for local theatre fans, who had just invested three hours in the live telecast from New York City’s Radio City Music Hall? Atlanta’s own Tony Award-winning Alliance Theatre had birthed Bring It On: The Musical, one of the 2013 nominees for Best Musical.
