It’s Chicken Week, at least in Atlanta. The International Poultry Expo
’s annual FeatherFest begins its flight to our city this weekend. Though casual chicken-lovers can’t get in to the reservations-only expo at the Georgia World Congress Center—running January 27 to 29 and featuring chef demonstrations and a museum about poultry processing and its history— they’re more than welcome to flock from one of over fifty participating restaurants to another to vote for their favorite poultry dishes. Voting starts today and lasts until Thursday, January 28, and involves South City Kitchen
, Dogwood Restaurant
, and even some traditionally non-poultry-themed eateries, such as Atlanta Fish Market
and Chops Lobster Bar
. The winning dish will be announced on the final day of the expo, January 29. I’m voting for South City Kitchen’s buttermilk fried chicken because it’s a classic—and because Watershed
is getting its feathers in a bunch and not participating, it seems.
TAP'S WINTER LUAU
It also seems our warm weather could only last for so long, making TAP
’s third annual Winter Luau a well-timed escape from the chill. And for those overwhelmed by FeatherFest’s chicken mania, the 8 to 11 p.m. event offers up the other white meat: a Polynesian pig roast. The night features music by house band The Brotherhood; food and drink deals, such as $5 luau cocktails; a hula-hoop spin-off with a chance to win a $50 bar tab; and an opportunity to walk away with a $10 gift card to Concentrics locales.
YOUR GUESS IS AS GOOD AS “WINE”
The Melting Pot
hosts a wine tasting dinner-cum-contest tonight. Entrance costs $59 and entails a three-course meal paired with mystery wines. Oenophiles who can accurately guess the wines from out of a list of choices will be entered to win roundtrip tickets to and a three-night stay in Napa Valley.

W ATLANTA-DOWNTOWN’S ANNIVERSARY
Just one year ago on January 27, W Atlanta opened the doors to its Downtown destination
. To celebrate, the hotel’s many culinary outposts will have restaurant deals throughout the week, beginning Monday, January 25. BLT Steak
will serve its ten-ounce hanger steak for the commemorative price of $20.09, and on the official anniversary, patrons can enjoy a free slice of the birthday cake. Drinkshop will sell many of its famed cocktails for just $5, including El Diablo, Strawberry Caipiroska, Honey Buck, and Lazzaroni Sour. And for those seeking their Champagne fix, Living Room will have $5 glasses of bubbly.

DINE OUT FOR HAITI
The 7.0 earthquake that devastated Haiti on Tuesday, January 12 has made donors out of the normally uncharitable. This Tuesday, restaurateurs Andy Alibaksh and Arnaud Michel of Amuse!
, Anis Cafe and Bistro
, and the Cafe Diem family
(Apres Diem, Carpe Diem, Carroll Street Cafe, and Village Pizza) will host a “dine out.” Twenty percent of each guest’s bill at any of those restaurants will go to Doctors Without Borders, an international organization providing medical aid to Haiti.

ROSEBUD PREMIERES TRIBUTE DINNER
Billy Joel’s song “Scenes from an Italian Restaurant” served as the inspiration for Chef Ron Eyester’s first tribute dinner of the new year. Rosebud
's six-course meal focuses on touchstones of the Italian restaurant oeuvre, such as stuffed clams, tuna Bolognese, and sausage with peppers. The dinner begins at 7 p.m. and costs $38.
