Souper Jenny joins the juicing craze, announces plans for Juicy Jenny

Buckhead juice bar and superfood emporium slated for September 1

Jenny Levison, founder of Souper Jenny and Café Jonah and the Magical Attic, is putting her own touch on the juicing trend: She’s opening Juicy Jenny, a community juice bar and superfood emporium, a few doors down from Souper Jenny at 56 East Andrews Drive in Buckhead. Juicy Jenny is scheduled to open September 1.

More “granola” than competitors Dtox and Roots Juices, Juicy Jenny will have a set menu of six cold-pressed “power” juices and six “super” smoothies plus healthy snacks. Everything is made in house, gluten free, dairy free, and vegan. Offerings include "Do I Have Kale in My Teeth?"—an all-green juice blend, and a mango-pineapple-banana-coconut smoothie with chia seeds designed to taste like a pina colada (but without the rum). Customers will also be able to design their own juices and smoothies.

Open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday, Juicy Jenny will also feature breakfast items like a hot quinoa bowl with Greek yogurt, granola, or fruit compote; and afternoon snacks such as crudité, cashew hummus with kale chips, Moroccan toasted chickpeas, and high-energy protein bars.

Though the restaurant will have Wi-Fi and seating for 20 inside, plus a few tables outside, select grab-and-go items will also be available. However, Levison says she hopes to make Juicy Jenny a community hangout—a place where people come to do work or take a break. The 1,000-square-foot space will have a water theme and be a little brighter than Souper Jenny. And unlike Souper Jenny, Juicy Jenny will accept credit cards.

Eventually Levison would like to add an educational component to Juicy Jenny, bringing in nutritionists and hosting classes.

“I’m not all about the cleanse,” she says. “I’m a real person who likes to eat real food and wants people to be able to add the right amount of juice into their diet to help them get their vegetables in.”

Levison is in what she calls “expansion mode.” She’s signed a letter of intent on a space in downtown Decatur where she’d like to open a second outpost of Souper Jenny and hopes to have more news to share on that front next week.
