First Krog Street Market event set for May 10

Local chefs collaborate on dinner benefiting WonderRoot

Krog Street Market—the highly anticipated restaurant and retail area soon to be home to Gu’s Dumplings, Fred’s Meat and Bread, Pannus Bakery, and more—will host its first event May 10. WonderFarm will be a seated dinner curated by Steven Satterfield of (Miller Union) and cooked by a dozen local chefs. There will also be art installations and performances.

"Anytime that creative folks can collaborate, there is potential for something greater than either party could do on their own," Satterfield says. "This is going to be a unique event that unites food, art, and community in a very new setting."

Starting at 7 p.m., guests will enjoy cocktails by Jerry Slater of H. Harper Station and Paul Calvert of Paper Plane, as well as appetizers including charcuterie and preserves. A three-course meal will follow, prepared by chefs like Todd Ginsberg (the General Muir), Eli Kirshtein (the Luminary), Kevin Ouzts (the Spotted Trotter), and Todd Richards (the Shed at Glenwood), among others. Chefs will use ingredients selected by farmer Joe Reynolds of Love is Love Farm. Since the food will be made using local and seasonal items, the menu will be not finalized until right before the event.

“We are thrilled about the event, and very honored to be the first event at Krog Street Market,” says organizer Katie Hayes. “It is the only event before Krog Street Market is open. We’ll have more than ten of Atlanta's best chefs working with local and seasonal fare to ‘celebrate the farmer.’”

Tickets cost $250 per person or $3,500 for a table of ten, and proceeds benefit WonderRoot—which aims to unite artists to inspire positive social change—and Community Farmers Markets—which is designed to strengthen farmers markets for sustainability and community impact.

"You won't experience another meal like this the rest of the year," Satterfield says.
