Matthew Basford takes over as Canoe’s executive chef

Word comes from Buckhead’s Canoe that Matthew Basford has taken over as its executive chef. Carvel Grant Gould, who worked at Canoe for sixteen years, has left the restaurant. No details yet on where she will next land.

Basford, a native of Australia, began his tenure at Canoe in 2005 as a sous chef. Expect him to keep Canoe on the same course, offering the accessible New American cooking that makes it a popular neighborhood haunt.
