Southern Chefs Potluck returns to Serenbe this weekend

1220

Once a year, Serenbe gathers some of the best chefs in the southeast for a potluck that would put your best family reunion to shame. This Sunday, the third annual Southern Chefs Potluck returns to the grounds of the Inn at Serenbe along with chefs including Hugh Acheson, Linton Hopkins, Steven Satterfield, Dan Latham, Anne Quatrano, Kevin Gillespie, Ford Fry, Todd Ginsberg, Joe Truex, Todd Richards, and Shaun Doty bearing dishes. The vibe is casual and friendly, dishes are served family-style, drinks are poured generously, and the pastoral grounds set the scene.

The event benefits Wholesome Wave Georgia, an organization that works to “increase access to good food for all Georgians while contributing to the local food economy” by doubling EBT and WIC dollars spent at local farmers markets. So, like your own family potluck, you can feel good about going (though you won’t have to pretend to enjoy Aunt Dorrie’s squash casserole). A few bands will be playing tunes and Will Harris, fourth generation cattleman of White Oak Pastures, will be on hand to auction off a number of chef experiences.

The event gets going at 3 pm, but you’ll need to get your tickets ahead of time. Check out a few of the experiences being auctioned off and a few appetizing pictures from last year below.

Auction items include:

Dinner and Sleepover with Linton Hopkins of Restaurant Eugene and Michel Nischan, Founder Wholesome Wave

Host a private dinner for 14 created by Linton and Michel. Guests will dine at The Farmhouse at Serenbe with wines selected by Gina Hopkins from Restaurant Eugene. After dinner, it’s on to a midnight pool party with libations provided by Greg Best and the Atlanta Bartender’s Guild and then to rest with an overnight stay for your guests at The Inn at Serenbe. Awake the next morning to the roosters crowing and a full country breakfast.

Cocktails with Steven Satterfield of Miller Union and Miles Macquerie of Leon’s Full Service

Enjoy a cocktail party for 30 friends with Chef Steven Satterfield providing a bountiful hors d’oeuvres selection and Miles Macquerie’s delicious cocktails in the home of Marie and Steve Nygren.

Cooking class for 20 with Kevin Gillespie

Kevin Gillespie of Woodfire Grill will teach you and 19 of your friends how to cook some of the great dishes from his upcoming cookbook, Fire in My Belly, at the Bosch Experience Center at Serenbe. You will then sit and dine with Chef Gillespie and savor all of the dishes you have just mastered.

Cookout for 50 with the Big Rig

Enjoy a Sunday afternoon in the country with a Southern BBQ at The Lake Pavilion at The Inn at Serenbe while listening to a rare performance by Chef Joe Truex of Watershed on Peachtree and his band, Bon Vivant. Jim and Nick’s BBQ truck will cook up beef provided by Will Harris of White Oak Pastures, and Anne Quatrano of Bacchanalia, Hugh Acheson of Empire State South, Joe Truex of Watershed on Peachtree and Marie Nygren of The Farmhouse will provide the sides. Serenbe’s Blue Eyed Daisy Bakeshop – recent winner of Food Network’s Cupcake Wars – will provide cupcakes.
