A-Top50-620x464Is Krog Street Market really a restaurant? Not exactly, but that didn’t keep Andrew Knowlton, Bon Appétit’s restaurant editor, from naming it one of America’s 50 Best New Restaurants in 2015. The Top 10 winners will be announced in two weeks on Tuesday, August 18.

Calling Krog Street Market “one of the country’s coolest food halls,” Knowlton, who was raised in Atlanta, highlighted Ford Fry’s Superica, Kevin Ouzts’s Cockentrice, Gu’s Dumplings, Hop City, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream, and Todd Ginsberg’s Fred’s Meat & Bread, which he says serves “the country’s best cheesesteak.” The Grey, which is getting attention for its Low Country fare in Savannah, was also nominated.

Last year, Atlanta snagged three Best New Restaurant nominations with Sobban, Lusca, and Gunshow; and in 2013, the General Muir and the Optimist (which also made the Top 10, clocking in at number 7) both received nods.
