Irwin Street Market and Jake’s Ice Cream founder Jake Rothschild is opening a tiny market in East Point. Called the Market at Center Park, it will feature 300 square feet of locally made goods, ranging from bread and pasta to chocolates and pies. Targeting a mid-March opening, the Market is a result of Rothchild’s food incubator, a program that works to develop local chefs and artisans and help them expand into the community. Many of the people participating in the Market have taught at Rothchild’s Cooking School at Irwin Street Market.

Owned collaboratively by the food and beverage purveyors contributing to it, the Market will feature the following:

  • Ramen and bone broth by Mihoko Obunai (formerly of Nexto)
  • Muffins and rosemary, olive, and pumpernickel breads by Sue Jensen (of Irwin Street Market)
  • Bread made from ancient grains, and handmade chocolates by Kyle Reynolds, a former instructor at the College of Culinary Arts
  • Barbecue and sides by award-winning pitmaster Ed Gaile
  • Pasta and sauces by Ramsey Eden (of St. Cecilia)
  • Ready-to-eat meals by personal chef Christopher Martel
  • Pies by Eboni Bowman
  • Vegan entrees and desserts by Tiffany Cosby
  • Ice cream by Jake’s Ice Cream
  • Coffee, tea, salads, and soups are also in the works.

Items will be sold to-go, but a patio with shaded picnic tables will be open in warmer months.

“We’ve spent the last two years getting to know our community. The food and beverage offerings we have now are the very things they have asked us to provide,” Rothschild says.
