From the Westside to Lilburn, new restaurants, juiceries, and canning spots abound. Here’s what’s new:

Preserving Place
Martha McMillin’s canning studio and retail shop opened for business on the Westside yesterday, offering crave-worthy house-made goods like lemon tomato jam, bread and butter pickle relish, and pickled peaches. Preserving Place also sells products made by other local artisans, such as Doux South pickles, Beautiful Briny Sea salts, and Ancesserie letterpress gifts. Its first class, Basics for Cooking for Baby, is tomorrow from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m.

Juicy Jenny
As if it wasn’t enough that Jennifer Levison (a.k.a. Souper Jenny) makes homemade soups, salads, sandwiches, and desserts at Souper Jenny and Cafe Jonah—and often goes on the Today show to share her secrets—now she’s whipping up juice. Her newest spot, Juicy Jenny, opens Monday a few doors down from Souper Jenny in the East Andrews complex.

Smash Kitchen & Bar
Here to Serve Restaurants’ second Town Brookhaven eatery (after Noche), Smash opened Tuesday, serving sandwiches, salads, steaks, burgers, and flatbreads. The signature “Smash potato” features peas, carrots, and Brussels (along with spuds) fried in a skillet.

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream
This Westside ice cream shop now has its sign up, but the powers that be say it won’t officially open until October. However, Jeni’s has been doing tastings at the Fresh Market locations around the city. Check the Facebook page for updates.

Sun Dried Restaurant & Lounge
This Marietta restaurant held its grand opening party last Saturday. Led by chef Alain Nijike, Sun Dried offers “world cuisine” such as calamari, fish, chicken, using local seasonal produce and other regional ingredients.

1910 Public House
Main Street in Lilburn has a new restaurant from the owners of Sprig in Decatur. 1910 Public House offers Southern-influenced fare, including a pimento cheese and bacon sandwich, blackened catfish tacos, and duck and stout Brunswick stew. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and will eventually have a market as well.
