There’s hardly a more appropriate Valentine’s Day treat than the macaron, a little colorful puff of almond meringue cookie sandwiched with ganache or jam. Atlanta is now home to two different businesses specializing in the Parisian delicacy.

Macaron Queen
Mother-daughter duo Finia Jahangard and Nina Chteoui sell a homier, more substantial version of the macaron, with less delicate crumble and a more generous dollop of filling. Flavors, made fresh daily, include raspberry-lemon mousse, red velvet, and caramel chocolate. Prepackaged selections are sold at kiosks in Lenox and Perimeter malls, with a bigger store planned for North Point ($20 for a box of 10).

Le Macaron Atlanta
This Florida franchise offers beautifully crafted macarons with just the right combination of crisp on the outside and meltaway chew on the inside. Shipped in every two weeks from Sarasota, the wide flavor selection includes rose petals, Grand Marnier, and chocolate praline ($20 for a box of six).
