Eagle & Lion Brew Pub

1034

Oi, Anglophiles! An English-style brewpub specializing in cask-conditioned ale—also known as “real ale”—just opened in March in Griffin, a forty-minute drive south of Downtown. Owner Mark Broe was living in England when he became smitten with this type of low-alcohol, lightly carbonated beer. The focal point of his brick-walled pub—which serves Brit favorites like cheddar-ale soup and fish and chips—is the handsome bar, where six beer engines draw from eight oak fermenting barrels imported from England.

Drink This: South of Taylor Special, a golden special bitter with an engaging balance between caramel aromas and bitter tang.
