    The novelist bristles at the notion that truth is stranger than fiction. “People who feel that way aren’t reading the right novels,” he says. Mullen’s The Last Town on Earth was named Best Debut Novel of 2006 by USA Today and won the James Fenimore Cooper Prize; his second, The Many Deaths of the Firefly Brothers, was awarded the Townsend Prize for best novel by a Georgia author; and his third, The Revisionists, is out in paperback.
