Sally Flocks and PEDS (Pedestrians Educating Drivers on Safety) were talking about walkability before it was cool. After two decades, PEDS is having its moment, as metro leaders realize the importance of increasing pedestrianism. In the city, PEDS is involved with the Complete Streets projects, which got $32.5 million through a bond referendum that will pay for 15 projects. In the suburbs, PEDS advocates for more sidewalks, crosswalks, and driver education.
