Playful, Watchful Robot

Playing with robots could soon become therapeutic for kids with cerebral palsy. Yu-Ping Chen, an assistant professor of physical therapy at Georgia State University, and Georgia Tech robotics professor Ayanna Howard are creating a robot that will help these children improve their muscle control and motor skills. Video cameras in the robot’s eyes record data as the child plays, allowing researchers to tailor therapy to his or her needs.
