WHAT’S NEW Mount Vernon has opened Hive for grades 7–12. Made possible through a
grant from the Goizueta Foundation, the creative space offers wood tools, a Crawlbot CNC machine, a Glowforge, a laser cutter, 3-D printers, vinyl cutters, microelectronics, and workstations. A new humanities course beginning in grade 9 examines the evolution of human civilizations. The school has doubled its electives; new offerings include improv comedy, sound and audio, studio recording, praise band, set design, hip-hop, and tap and jazz.
