Eli Kikov earned the nickname “Eli Pita” for sound reason: His unusually plush pocket breads put the world’s many cardboard-textured specimens to shame.
In early 2011, Kikov and his wife, Galia, began serving Israeli specialties during weekday lunch out of their commercial bakery’s modest storefront off Peachtree Industrial Boulevard. The falafel alone is worth the trek. Herbaceous and crunchy with a fluffy interior, the chickpea spheres taste especially sublime nestled in Kikov’s pita. The sandwich once came dressed; now there’s a fixings bar in one corner for you to add as much hummus, tahini, lettuce, and tomato as you like.
