Pinewood Tippling Room

From the outside, this plucky cocktail lounge looks the same as when Cakes & Ale occupied the space before its move last year to Decatur Square. But inside, the long room has been given a genteel Southern makeover with powder-blue paint, tall tables, and an expanded bar—made of, yes, pinewood—flanked with wicker stools.

Partner and beverage director Julian Goglia designed a drink menu with a duly regional lilt, featuring libations like the Goodwood Julep (with herbal liqueurs and tarragon joining the traditional bourbon and mint) and the Pinewood Old-Fashioned served on draft, made with oleosaccharum, a nineteenth-century punch base that includes sugar and lemon. Brooks Cloud and executive chef Mike Blydenstein are also owning partners.
