When this Tuscan restaurant opened in Buckhead in 1999, it seemed like a revelation: Here was the stunning, peppery extra-virgin olive oil, the silky beef carpaccio, and the rich, melting ossobuco that reminded us of our travels to Italy.

But as the city's tastes grew worldlier, Antica Posta (Italian for "the old post office") settled as more of an affluent neighborhood restaurant. Meat-heavy antipasti, pastas and risotto, and substantial entrees like grilled swordfish with capers and olive pesto and a whopping veal chop anchor the menu. We wish the wine list included more exciting, reasonably priced options. The most inspired dishes come from the specials list, which regularly offers what may be the city's best roast chicken—so juicy and comforting that those who live nearby may want to consider ordering it for take-out.
