Nearly forty of the city's finest local vendors, a hefty dose of neighborhood pride, and an abundance of shade combine to make Grant Park a varied and family-friendly market. Booths set up along the walkways branch from Milledge Fountain. Check out Global Growers Network, a collective of immigrant farmers who sell okra and eggplant along with exotics like bamboo shoots, African squash, and spinachlike amaranth greens. The growers with Patchwork City Farms, a newcomer, work several small plots in the historic West End community, where they pick figs and cultivate, among many prizes, purple fingerling potatoes and fifteen varieties of heirloom tomatoes.
Parking tip: Spaces along Cherokee Avenue fill quickly, but one can usually find parking along Milledge Avenue or just one block away on Oakland Avenue.
