Dr. Regis W. Haid Jr. is a pioneer in neurosurgery. Dr. Haid has been a visiting professor at over 30 universities worldwide and a course director more than 280 times, delivering more than 600 lectures. He has also contributed over 135 scientific articles and is presently editing his twelfth textbook. His interests include minimally invasive surgery and novel spinal reconstruction techniques, resulting in his development of over 20 spinal procedure patents.
A graduate of Notre Dame, he completed a spinal fellowship prior to directing the spinal program of the U.S. Air Force. A professor of neurosurgery at Emory and founder and director of the spinal fellowship program, he came to Piedmont in 2003 and was a founding partner of Atlanta Brain and Spine Care. Dr. Haid is an active member and leader within several professional neurosurgical and spinal societies, including vice president of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and chair of the Neurosurgery Research and Education Society, among others.
Dr. Haid is proud to have been selected as an Atlanta magazine Top Doctor for 20 years. He and his wife, Mary Ellen, enjoy spending their free time with their six children and six grandchildren.
