Smart Glass Art founder Kathleen Plate—famous for slicing and upcycling beverage bottles into jewelry, wall hangings, and even runway fashion—has introduced a new line of affordable, semicustom light fixtures. Customers can choose among several hardware finishes, glass colors, and pendant arrangements to create their own unique chandelier—at prices starting below $2,000. Plate aims to deliver each fixture within six weeks of the order.

“Many people want something handcrafted, eco-friendly, and also beautiful but don’t have a design team to help with fully custom projects, or they feel overwhelmed by the process,” says Plate. “I’ve taken the bestselling configurations from the last five years and made them easily accessible to a larger audience.”

Plate has crafted jewelry for more than two decades. She began using recycled bottles about 10 years ago, when Coca-Cola commissioned her to make earrings and pendants out of its iconic green bottles. The project’s success inspired Plate to make jewelry and larger installations from other beverage containers as well.
