As projects across the city have proven, Atlanta has a newfound appreciation for adaptive reuse—and there’s plenty to appreciate about the new Fulton Supply Lofts in Castleberry Hill. The $12-million project painstakingly created 74 apartments within the stone-and-brick walls of a 1923 warehouse, which for nine decades was home to Fulton Supply Company, a distributor of industrial equipment and supplies. Exposed beams of heartwood pine, original wood floors, and industrial artifacts (machinery, sliding factory doors) were retained, and onsite galleries pay homage to the dozen TV shows and movies filmed there (including Driving Miss Daisy). According to owner and developer Joel Roth, it’s one of just a few rental projects in the community where offerings range from cozy one-bedroom lofts (680 square feet) to three-bedroom townhomes (1,800). The energy-efficient building has already scored several accolades, including the Atlanta Urban Design Commission 2017 Award for Design Excellence. Rents range from $800 to $1,900.
