“I like simplicity and quiet,” says says Ann Wisniewski, who launched her design firm with her architect husband 20 years ago. “This house has such clean lines,” she says, “so that’s a great start.”

To balance the deep blue cabinets in the kitchen, Wisniewski stuck to taupes and grays in the dining room. Those colors continue into the living area, so that all of the rooms flow together in the open floor plan. “I don’t want my clients to say, ‘I love that lamp,’ or ‘That picture is beautiful,’” says Wisniewski, who is a past president of the Georgia Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers. I want them to say, ‘I love this space!’ That’s why balance is so important.” Wisniewski’s overall formula for this project: bold cabinets and artworks, neutral tones elsewhere, and absolutely no clutter. “Like I said, simple is better!”
