Mission Statement
March of Dimes is dedicated to improving the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. We carry out this mission through research, community services, education and advocacy to save babies' lives. Our vision: a day when every baby is born healthy.

Goals
Research for lifesaving interventions that ensure a healthy start for every baby
Parent education providing the most reliable information about pregnancy wellness and infant health, along with support if the unexpected happens. Our NICU (newborn intensive care unit) Family Support Programs helps families dealing with a sick newborn.
Advocacy to ensure the sickest and most at-risk children have access to healthcare and to protect funding for the Georgia Newborn Screening program that saves babies’ lives.

Year Founded
1938 – The March of Dimes was founded by Franklin D. Roosevelt following the first great polio epidemic in 1916.  FDR became one of polio’s victims and dedicated his life to finding a cure and protecting future generations of children.

Servicing
March of Dimes services the entire United States. Our Georgia chapter concentrates on the needs of babies state-wide. Please see our web site at www.marchofdimes/georgia for the location near you.

Volunteer Opportunities
Since its beginning, the March of Dimes has depended on devoted volunteers to carry out its mission of saving babies. With help from millions of supporters across the nation and in Atlanta, the March of Dimes champions the needs of all babies – those born healthy and those who need help to survive and thrive. Your time and talents can make a world of difference.

Here are just a few ways you can get involved:
  • Be a leader and raise money for March for Babies and Bikers for Babies. Help out on event day with logistics, entertainment, programs and kids activities
  • Join a social event committee like Signature Chefs, Dining Out or Evening of Excellence
  • Donate your graphic design, photography, artistic or marketing talents
  • Be an ambassador and coordinate a special fundraising event to support National Prematurity Awareness Month in November
Giving Opportunities
In giving to the March of Dimes, you help us continue our vital research, education, community services and advocacy programs. Whether you are a long-time March of Dimes supporter or are giving for the first time, we could not do it without you. Thank you for your commitment to saving babies.

Please consider making an annual gift or donating through activities such as March for Babies. Visit www.marchofdimes.com/georgia  at any time to make a gift.
