The Home Depot cofounder still ranks on the 2015 Forbes billionaires list (number 737), but he’s better known these days as owner of the Atlanta Falcons and the city’s new MLS team, Atlanta United FC. A focal point of some civic controversy, the teams’ new $1.5 billion stadium is well underway next to the Georgia Dome and should be ready for the 2017 season. In August, saying he wanted to “back away a bit,” Blank announced plans to hire a CEO to oversee all of his for-profit businesses, which also includes PGA Tour Superstores.

Daddy More Bucks Over the past two years, the Blank Family Foundation handed out more than $58 million in grants—much of it to local causes, including an effort to revitalize the neighborhood around the new stadium.
