Since Philipp became executive director of the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta in 1977, the grant-making organization has seen its assets grow from $7 million to nearly $1 billion. Under Philipp, the foundation has nurtured initiatives such as the Georgia Center for Nonprofits, the Atlanta Women’s Foundation, and the Metropolitan Arts Fund, and is second only to the Woodruff Foundation in terms of grant dollars allocated.

On the upswing In 2013 the group raised $198 million in donations, the largest amount in its 63-year history.
