(Spoilers ahead)

Each week, we comb through the guts of The Walking Dead, much like a horde of hungry walkers, to bring you the episode’s best moments, surprises, and other post-apocalyptic curiosities. This week: a Bible study, a passive-aggressive toast, and the undeniable fact that Bob is totally screwed.

Season 5, Episode 2: “Strangers”

1st sign that Bob is doomed: His playful kiss with Sasha in the woods. Such a sweet couple! We could just eat them up.

Most prepared Georgia motorist: Whoever owned that car that “Caryl” found. The battery may have been dead, but at least the owner had a charger ready to go in the trunk. (Remember to check those battery cables first!)

Best police work: Carl’s hat must have been seeping into his brain when he was looking around the church because we haven’t seen sleuthing like that since True Detective.

2nd sign that Bob is doomed: His intense optimism toward Eugene’s magical cure. Bob, that’s hard to swallow.

Most passive-aggressive toast: Abraham’s speech started out honoring those who survived but it quickly devolved into a Washington D.C. tourism sales pitch.

Best Bible study: All of the verses on the boards in the church (Romans 6:4, Ezekiel 37:7, Matthew 27:52, Revelations 9:6, and Luke 24:5) have something to do with the dead rising—a nice Easter egg.

3rd sign that Bob is doomed: His lack of a raised glass during the toast to the survivors. Got something to say? Spit it out, Bob!

Best kill: Sasha’s take-down of the waterlogged walker that attacked Bob. During this past weekend’s Walker Stalker Con, executive producer/special effects make-up supervisor Greg Nicotero mentioned that he wanted the “meat” of this particular walker to fall off like rotisserie chicken. It did.

Best line: “Stomping around in three feet of slime for some peas and carrots—that’s living.” —Michonne

4th sign that Bob is doomed/Most disturbing image: The exiled Terminus crew munching on Bob’s leg (a ka-Bob?)

Episode MVP: Judith, for reminding us that Rick can actually smile, being the most decisive of the bunch about the trek to Washington, and for being just plain cute.

And once again, where exactly does Rick fall this week on the calm/crazy scale?
