The Walking Dead spinoff will be set in . . .

The new show is headed about 2,000 miles away from Atlanta

Say goodbye to dense woods of Georgia pines and hello to California palms. TVLine is reporting that the new Walking Dead companion series will take place in Los Angeles. There’s no official word yet on whether filming will still take place in the Hollywood of the South or move out to plain old Hollywood, but the show has cast three actors so far: Cliff Curtis (Gang Related), Frank Dillane (Harry Potter’s Tom Riddle), and Alycia Debnam Carey (Into the Storm).

While it will be fun to see the zombie apocalypse play out in a completely different part of the country, literally over 2,000 miles away from Rick and his pals, we can’t help but feel LA is a little bit of a cliche. How many TV shows can you name that are set in California? But on the other hand, we will get to see dazzling West Coast beaches littered with sunbathing walkers, and presumably, the abandoned cars our new heroes steal will be a lot more flashy than an eternally-clean 2012 Hyundai Sonata.
