Five Points: What's worth your while this month

1. Seventy Years of Gone with the Wind: A Re-Premiere
Seven decades after Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh descended on Atlanta for GWTW’s premiere, the Marietta Gone with the Wind Museum: Scarlett on the Square will re-create that moment with autograph sessions (with stars such as Ann Rutherford, who played Carreen O’Hara), a costume ball, and a film screening at the Earl Smith Strand Theatre, hosted by TCM’s Robert Osborne. (11/13–14)

2. The Second City: Peach Drop, Stop, and Roll
The last time this famous Chicago comedy troupe brought an Atlanta-centric revue to the Alliance Theatre’s Hertz Stage, it skewered traffic, Stone Mountain, and Coke. This year’s skits and songs will feature holiday satire, with fair warning to our “sacred cows and pink pigs.” (11/6–12/13)

3. Atlanta Thrashers vs. Pittsburgh Penguins
Kovalchuk and crew will be doing everything in their power to put biscuits in the basket when the defending Stanley Cup champion Penguins and golden boy Sidney Crosby skate into Philips Arena this month. The Thrashers, after all, have something to prove: They didn’t win one match-up against Pittsburgh last season. (11/21)

4. Bi-Annual Open Mic Shootout
Singer-songwriters battle it out at Eddie’s Attic for a chance at $1,000 in the acclaimed music venue’s Bi-Annual Open Mic Shootout. This is a stellar way to see up-and-coming talent and to perhaps one day be able to say, “I saw him before he was famous.” (11/27)

5. The Radio City Christmas Spectacular
Rockettes high-kicking across the Fox Theatre’s stage are as much a holiday tradition as fruitcake. But they’re more than pretty faces with flexible gams: It takes talent to make the “Parade of the Wooden Soldiers” look effortless. (11/19–12/6)
