The contest will start in June 2010 and run through September 2010, with the winner(s) announced in the November 2010 issue. The contest will go through the following phases:
June–July 2010: Readers will be asked to submit photos of their pets at atlantamagazine.com. Other readers can “vote” online for their favorites.
August 2010: 20 semi-finalists will be posted online, and reader voting will continue.
September 2010: 5 finalists will be photographed for the November issue. Winner(s) may be chosen for the cover.
November 2010: The issue will be revealed.
Entrants must post at least one photo and a short description related to their pet. By submitting photos, entrants agree to terms of publishing materials
Photos and text will be displayed on atlantamagazine.com. Visitors to the site can "rate" entries during this time.
The ratings will be taken into consideration in selecting our semifinalists and winners. However, the final selections are made by the staff of Atlanta magazine.
Winner must be 18 years of age and must be prepared to provide proof of age.
In addition, entrants in the “Pet Cover Contest” agree to these terms and conditions:
ELIGIBILITY AND ODDS OF WINNING: No purchases necessary to enter. Contest open to legal residents of the United States except family members of employees of Atlanta Magazine, Emmis Communications, affiliates, subsidiaries, and successor companies. Winners must be 18 or older.
RESTRICTIONS AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY: One entry per person. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Atlanta Magazine and Emmis Communications assume no responsibility or liability whatsoever for damages, loss or injury resulting from participating in any contest or acceptance or use of any prize. Atlanta Magazine is not responsible for the late, misdirected, lost, misplaced, illegible, mutilated, or postage-due entries.
DISQUALIFICATION AND PENALTIES: All participants agree to be bound by these rules. Atlanta Magazine, in its sole discretion, further reserves the right to disqualify any person for (i) violating any of these rules, (ii) tampering with the entry process, (iii) gaining an unfair advantage in participating in the contest, (iv) obtaining winner status using fraudulent means, or (v) engaging in otherwise unsportsmanlike, disruptive, or threatening behavior.
