Brook Run Dog Park
This woodsy Dunwoody dog run has logs and trees for sniffing—not to mention shade for hot summer afternoons. 4770 North Peachtree Road, Dunwoody

Chattapoochee Dog Park
With one acre for small dogs and two acres for large dogs, this shady Duluth park has plenty of space to roam. Other features include fountains and agility equipment. On super-hot days, you can even take Fido right down to the river. 4000 Rogers Bridge Road, Duluth

Hartsfield-Jackson Dog Park
Four-legged travelers need to stretch their legs, too. Located off the domestic South Terminal at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the 1,000-square-foot space is adorned with two giant canine sculptures. atlanta-airport.com

Newtown Dream Dog Park
This fenced one-acre area in Johns Creek’s Newtown Park is dreamy indeed, with sprinklers, playground-like obstacles, a walking trail, plus water fountains and benches for pooches and their owners. 3150 Old Alabama Road, Johns Creek

Piedmont Dog Park
Nearly three acres, this huge run is divided into spaces for both large and small dogs. There’s lots of room to run and rocks to jump on, but don’t expect your pal to roll in the grass—there isn’t any. piedmontpark.org

Despite the heat-soaked name, this Cobb County park has several shady spots, plus separate spaces for large and petite pups. 4346 Steinhauer Road, Marietta

Woofstock Dog Park
The two mulch-covered gated runs each feature a wooden deck for relaxing, or cross the bridge to connect to two hiking trails. 150 Dupree Road, Woodstock
