All summer long, I work my way through a steady trickle of homegrown tomatoes that line up on my kitchen counter and window sill. They're too precious to waste a single one, but sometimes, if I don't pay attention, one or two will get just a little too soft for my pure enjoyment. That's when I drink 'em. —Deborah Geering
1 very ripe medium tomato, cored
1 12-ounce beer (I prefer pilsner)
1 generous wedge of lime
2 to 3 drops Tabasco sauce
In a food processor or blender, puree the tomato. Press through a sieve to remove seeds and coarse chunks. Pour into a tall glass; top with beer. Squeeze lime juice into beer; add a few drops of Tabasco to taste. Cheers.
