Highland Bakery

2607

This Old Fourth Ward darling began as a wholesale bakery in the 1910s and operated until the 1960s. Father-and-son team John and Luke Mount revived the site in 2003, installing a mill to grind wheat for hearty breads and pastries. Stacey Eames, who had previously operated coffee kiosks, took over ownership in 2004, and the place blossomed into a chipper community hangout. The business has expanded to outposts in Midtown and Buckhead, but we remain loyal to the bustling original. Grab a signature cinnamon roll if you’re in a hurry, but it’s worth sticking around for a sit-down meal.

ORDER THIS: Ricotta pancakes with warm blueberry compote; country-fried steak Benedict with jalapeño-cheddar sauce.
