Known as Atlanta’s Historic Arts District, Castleberry Hill’s creative energy is best sampled during the evening art stroll on the second Friday of every month. Not every party is listed on the stroll map, so any open door is worth checking out for the adventurous. Begin your walk close to downtown at Elliot Street Pub’s patio, where a cold beer and live jazz or country music complement the skyline view. Next, head to SuCot, the largest African American art gallery in the Southeast. At Mindzai Creative, a print shop that hosts a rotating show of work by mostly local, emerging artists, the party spills out onto the street. Walk through furniture and ceramics workshops at maker collective Fair Street Studios before mingling with the art-covered creatives of City of Ink Tattoo. Finish at Escobar, 2 Chainz’s new restaurant, with their signature green tea and Hennessey cocktail while contemplating the irony of the gold Mercedes-Benz DJ booth at the edge of the lounge area (is he saying something about the stadium?).
