Sure, their targeted demographic is now old enough to be the mothers of Justin Bieber fans. Still, expect a few high-pitched squeals from  moms today as New Kids on the Block and the Backstreet Boys announce an extension of their planned 2011 co-headlining tour.

Reps for Philips Arena, tell us the boy band mash up (officially referred to as NKOTBSB, natch) will hit the downtown concert venue on June 22, 2011. Tickets go on sale Dec 11 at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster and Live Nation.

After a surprise appearance together at Radio City Music Hall this year, the boy band veterans (NKOTB’s Donnie Wahlberg is 41 while Atlanta’s own Backstreet Boy Brian Littrell is 35) floated a handful of tour dates for a mini tour to test the ticket-buying waters. Tickets for dates in Chicago and Toronto vaporized in mere minutes.

Over 25 years, the two boy bands have sold 200 million albums. “We can’t thank our fans enough for their continued support,” NKOTBSB said via a joint statement issued by Live Nation. “With our new elaborate stage design there won’t be a bad seat in the house.”

Live Nation also supplied Intel with the NKOTBSB official tour photo which we have thoughtfully posted at right. Feel free to print it and tape it to your bedroom wall. We’re practically certain your husband won’t mind.
