Former Atlanta magazine intern gives us the Last Chance Runaround

The magazine has a tradition of scooping up multi-talented interns, and Scott Roberts was no exception. He was a pro at writing and copy editing, yes. But if you talked to Scott for even a few minutes you found he had a more passions: his family–including his adorable twin girls–and music.

So I’m very proud to pass along that Last Chance Runaround, Scott’s band with harpist Sue Volkert (also Spivey Hall’s marketing guru) will host a (free!) release party and concert for their new album, Alter Idem, at Decatur’s Alcove Gallery & Studio this Saturday night at 6 p.m.

While Alter Idem includes a few covers (such as one of my Beatles favorites, “Two of Us”), the original material, written by guitarist Scott, is perfectly mellow music for spring evenings. It reminds me of the soothingly melodious music of Matthew Sweet, or even the work he did with his supergroup, The Thorns (with Pete Droge and Shawn Mullins), with a little R.E.M. thrown in for good measure.

Check it out for yourself here. And congrats to our talented former intern.
