Captain Planet Foundation chair Laura Turner Seydel and Atlanta jewelry designer Elizabeth DuPree Lynch had some major scoop to share with us on a recent afternoon at DuPree Lynch’s gorgeous Buckhead home. As Atlanta author Elizabeth Dewberry and “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” newest cast member Marlo Hampton hosted an intimate private afternoon jewelry shopping spree of DuPree Lynch’s designs as a fundraiser for the globally minded eco non-profit (to check out a photo gallery from the party, click here), Turner Seydel tipped us about CPF’s next big fundraiser.

Twenty-six-time (!) Grammy winner Alison Krauss has just been booked to headline the annual Captain Planet Foundation benefit set for December 9 at the Georgia Aquarium. Atlanta magazine will serve as the exclusive media partner for the fundraiser. The country and bluegrass superstar will join Captain Planet and CNN founder Ted Turner and supporters for the evening of entertainment with a seated dinner.

“Needless to say, we’re excited,” Turner Seydel told Intel. “It’s a major coup for us. Alison wants to donate an hour of her time for the concert. We’re trying to work out the logistics. It’s going to be a fantastic evening.”
DuPree Lynch is serving as the benefit’s co-chair. “My goal is to get everything donated so it doesn’t cut into the money raised for the charity,” DuPree Lynch explained. Even in the current economy DuPree Lynch says she’s encountering little resistance attracting sponsors and donors for this year’s event. “This charity’s vision is about educating children to understand and love the earth and protect the earth and to become our next environmental stewards. It speaks to a lot of peoples’ consciousness and what their loves center on. We’ve got to take care of Mother Earth the same way she takes care of us.”
